Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim stitched a solid 68-run stand and India were trying hard to break the stand. In the session after lunch, Ravichandran Ashwin answered Virat Kohli’s prayers and he got rid of Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque with a flighted delivery that drifted in and went straight on off stump. Mominul suffered a total misjudgment and left the ball to be bowled. With this wicket, Ravichandran Ashwin entered an elite list of bowlers. Playing in his 42nd Test at home, Ashwin’s wicket of Mominul was his 250th and he equals the record with Muttiah Muralitharan who also took 42 Tests to reach the landmark of 250 wickets in home Tests.Anil Kumble, considered India’s ultimate match-winner, played 43 home Tests before reaching 250 wickets. Kumble is followed by Rangana Herath, the Sri Lanka left-arm spinner who achieved the record in 44 Tests. South Africa pacer Dale Steyn, who retired from the longer format recently, took 49 Tests to reach 250 wickets at home while Harbhajan Singh took 51 Tests at home to reach 250 wickets.During the series against South Africa, Ashwin achieved a record in the Vizag Test. The Tamil Nadu offspinner took the wicket of de Bruyn and that was his 350th in Tests and he achieved it in his 66th match, equal with Muralitharan. Ashwin’s feat continued his magnificent Vizag Test in which he picked up 7/145 in the first innings. The offspinner is the fastest Indian to get to 200 wickets. On the same day Ashwin picked up five wickets, his spin bowling counterpart Ravindra Jadeja became the second-fastest to 200, achieving the feat in his 44th match. Jadeja, though, is the fastest left-arm bowler to take 200 wickets in Tests in so few games. Also Read | Ravichandran Ashwin Takes 350th Wicket, Equals Muttiah Muralitharan’s RecordAshwin also has 27 five-wicket hauls and he is second behind Anil Kumble for the most wickets by an Indian bowler.
