Swinehart, 87, retired farmer, teacher and coach, of 14620 SE 110th Ave, Norwich, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his home.He was born May 25, 1926 at Chapman, KS the son of Elisha Clay Swinehart and Esther Inez Randall Swinehart.John SwinehartJohn attended the Milton school through his 11 grade.Â He graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1944.John entered the U. S. Army on October 13, 1944 where he served his country during WWII as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division in the Philippines and during the occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged on October 18, 1946.John was united in marriage to Roberta Carol Toevs on November 4, 1953 at Newton, KS.John was a member of the Norwich Baptist Church, Norwich, KS.Â He was also a long time member of Harper Masonic Lodge #206 and the Am. Legion Post #104.John was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Martha Burford.He is survived by his wife Roberta Swinehart of the home; two sons: John B. Swinehart, David Swinehart and wife Jodi; one daughter Jane Cox all of Norwich, KS; grandchildren:, Tara Riedel and Mikhail, Courtney Swinehart and K.C. Raper, Cody and Grant Swinehart, James and John Mevey; 4 great grandchildren: Tyson and Lucy Raper, Will and Sam Riedel and a number of other relatives and many friends. Memorials have been established to the Norwich First Baptist Church or Norwich EMS.
