Evelyn Mae Muhlenbruch Russ funeral is Saturday in Milan

first_imgEvelyn Mae Muhlenbruch Russ was born November 24, 1923 at the Jon and Johanna Muhlenbruch homestead, north and west of Argonia. She was the second daughter of three, born to Louie and Margaret MuhlenbruchShe attended Argonia Grade School her first four years, after which the family moved to a farmstead north of Milan. While in High school at Milan, she was a cheerleader and honor student for all four years. She graduated from Milan High School in 1941. After graduation, she reserved an apartment in Wichita and enrolled in the Business Preparatory College with a degree in Secretarial Duties and Business. Evelyn worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in Kansas, California and Texas.  She was united in marriage to Bruce Rowe Russ on July 26th, 1943 in Wichita. In 1951, they left Sedgwick County and moved to Sumner County; 3/4ths of a mile west of Milan. Evelyn Russ was a member of the Milan and Wellington Church of Christ. In Milan she taught Children’s Class and taught in the Summer Vacation Bible schools.Evelyn enjoyed retirement and being able to work in her home and with her flowers. The highlight of her life was to help others in need and spend time with grandchildren.Evelyn is survived by children Ronald Eugene Russ of Houston Texas, Daniel Scott Russ of Mayfield Kansas, Tamara Jean Russ Pontious and husband Rick of Milan Kansas, Randal Edward Russ and wife Christina Marie of Colby Kansas. Also surviving are five grandchildren; namely Dallas Russ Pontious and wife Sandra of Milan Kansas, Abigayl Marie, Austin Isaac, Ashton Isaiah, and Allyanne Ruth Russ of Colby, two great granddaughters Lakin McKinsley Pontious and Ember Gracelynn Pontious, and a step great granddaughter, Kamry Garibaldo. Preceding her in death were her parents Louie and Margaret Muhlenbruch, husband Bruce Rowe Russ and sisters Goldie Roll and Joanna Stevens.Graveside services are at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Milan Cemetery in Milan.A memorial has been established the Church of Christ in Wellington.
