We could have scored 12 against URA, says Mike Mutebi

first_imgMike Mutebi speaking to the media after the 7-2 win over URA (Photo by Shaban Lubega)After KCCA dismantled URA FC 7-2 at the StarTimes stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday, the Kasasiro Boys’ head coach Mike Mutebi has come out and suggested that his team could have reached double figures in terms of goals against the Tax Collectors.Shaban Muhammad grabbed a hat trick and a goal each from Allan Okello, Patrick Kaddu, Paul Mucurezi plus an own goal ensured that KCCA register the biggest win of the season in terms of goals.Robert Kulaba and Saidi Kyeyune where on the score sheet for the away side.Speaking after the game, an excited Mike Mutebi had this to say.“I want to term it as a seven star performance,” said Mutebi.“We were so effective against URA despite my team playing at only 40% of their potential.“We were a little bit short especially at putting away our chances coz i am sure we could have scored 12 against them.“We created so many clear cut opportunities against them but we should also not forget that we were careless at the back, conceding several chances too and letting in two goals.“It is an issue that we need to address especially going into the CAF Champions League because if you repeat the same mistakes against the big boys there, you are going to be punished dearly.“I know everyone who attended the game has to be flattered by the score line but for me, i have to look at the bigger picture and try to sort out the areas where we came short.On where his team bettered URA and how easy the Tax Collectors made it for KCCA, Mutebi had this to say.“Both teams came onto the field of play and played open attacking football which suits us better because it is our style.“The result is deceiving because they could have scored more than they did.“I can’t come out and say that URA was poor on the day but rather that we were more effective and punished them more often than they did.“Like i said, we have to work on our defending before the Vipers game on Friday but i am excited after my team scored all those goals because scoring has been an issue for us lately.“The biggest aspect that made the game easy for us is that out players understand the game more than others and although they have plenty of attack minded individuals, it comes down to how every our exhibits themselves on the pitch.“Going into that game on Friday, we can now seat and think that may be Shaban (Muhammad) will score as he has scored in like four consecutive games and seeing the Okellos (Allan) also chip in with one or two more goals, it is so healthy for us coz we will have to score to win the game.Asked about KCCA chances of retaining the title for a third consecutive season, Mutebi said.“I have always said that This season may go to the wire and may require goal difference to decide the winner.“We are currently in the chasing pack as we are not the leaders but we will try to do our job which is to win and score as many goals as we can and hope that everything plays into our favour.KCCA are currently third on the log with 48 points from 24 games.
