India’s first Lamborghini Urus SUV delivered in Mumbai

first_imgLamborghini has started deliveries of its Urus super sports SUV in the Indian market. The car sold in Mumbai gets a Rosso Antero shade and also gets an optional Style package for the exterior. The package includes red brake calipers, black exterior trim and a chrome finish for the tailpipes. The particular Urus also gets contrasting red stitching on the inside, optional Bang and Olufsen audio system, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and 360-degree camera.Italian supercar manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini launched its Urus super sports utility vehicle in India at the start of this year. This will be Lamborghini’s second SUV in its lineup after the LM002 SUV which was discontinued in 1993. Only 328 examples were produced. The Urus gets the underpinnings of a sports car. Built on its parent company Volkswagen’s MLB EVO platform which is shared by the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, and the Volkswagen Touareg as well, the Urus is basically a super sports SUV.Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen Group subsidiary Audi AG and intends to double production to 7,000 vehicles a year by 2019, as per a Reuters report dated 24 August 2016. The annual production of the Super Sports Utility Vehicle is capped at 3,500 vehicles, with worldwide sales of the vehicles which are expected to contribute to incremental volumes, stated Chief Stefano Domenicali in the Reuters report.The Lamborghini Urus gets an all-new 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 twin-turbo engine, a first for Lamborghini. The engine produces about 641bhp and a whopping 850Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed transmission.
