MCU NEWS More Female Superheroes Johansson Confirmed for Black Widow Film

first_img Some of the best things are coming out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fantastic characters, interlocking storylines, and the upcoming array of female superheroes that are slaying alongside our favorite male ones. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, says that there will be more lady superheroes in the MCU to come. Screenrant asked the Feige about this in an interview.“… I think we’re getting to the point soon where we have so many great female characters that those are our heroes as opposed to when are they all female, all male. It’s just the Marvel heroes, more than half of which will be women.” It’s a promising future for ladies in the MCU to outweigh the men in more ways than one. Marvel’s database has a wide arrange of female superheroes (and baddies) that can be brought into the universe and it’s the right time to bring them in. In the meantime, we have some dope superbabes coming to screen in Ant-Man and the Wasp, in theaters July 6th. Also, how can we forget the first lady of Marvel to have her own solo title? Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel will be making her debut in her self-titled film slated for 2019. Captain Marvel will be played by the gorgeous and dazzling Brie Larson. I know, my epic crush is showing and there are no signs of stopping.Speaking of epic crushes, Scarlett Johansson has confirmed that she will be playing Black Widow in the standalone film, Black Widow. Appearing on Ellen, she told the host that to do the film it would have to be, “… something that we’ve never seen before that was really groundbreaking and incredibly badass.” Scarlett Johansson has starred as Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) since Iron Man 2. Johansson has greatly grown the character into something that’s entirely her. We’re still not sure of the plot, cast and release date for the Black Widow film. All good things come in time.AdChoices广告In more early development news, we’re entering the stage where we can whisper loudly about Marvel’s Phase 4 plans. Fans are already expecting some highly anticipated titles such as Spider-Man: Far From Home, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Black Panther 2, and (hopefully) Black Widow. Feige confirmed more female superhero, but what about teenagers? We’ve been #blessed with Marvel teens in the form of Runaways (Hulu) and Cloak and Dagger (Freeform). What if we brought Young Avengers to the big screen?Reported by Heroic Hollywood, Feige acknowledges that bringing specific kids and teens in the universe is leading up to something. In the first Ant-Man, we’re introduced to Cassie Lang, Scott Lang’s young daughter. Cassie Lang in the comics has a significant rule to play. Cassie becomes Stature in Young Avengers and later Stinger (Astonishing Ant-Man). The questions is, will Cassie Lang take up either of these titles and bring Young Avengers into the MCU? According to Feige, it’s a very big possibility! In Ant-Man and the Wasp, there’s reportedly a scene that hints to Cassie’s future.“… taking our cue from the comics as we always do – that’s why we wanted Cassie, a very young Cassie in this movie, to be inspired by her father. Just planting seeds.” Only time will tell if we see Cassie in her role as Stature or the Young Avengers in the MCU. It would be amazing to see some teenager kick some ass as much as the adults do on the big screen.Last, but certainly not least, let’s return to the Spider-verse for some news that will either excite you or make you go “huh?” According to Variety, Jared Leto is set to star in Mobius, a Spider-Man spinoff based on the infamous villain who tried to cure his blood disease but instead ended up becoming a vampire instead. The film will again star Jared Leto as the title character with Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life, Child 44) set to direct. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Lost in Space) will be writing the script and Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster producing. The Spider-verse is quickly expanding! With the recent announcement of Silk, Venom set to hit theaters in October and Spider-Man: Far From Home coming soon after it’s a good time to be a Spidey fan. Now, we won’t pretend to forget his other comic book role as The Joker in Suicide Squad. However, this may be a very different comic role for Leto that lands him something great. Stars like Ryan Reynolds, Chris Evans, and Ayelet Zurer have managed to act in both DC and Marvel properties. Leto moving towards Marvel properties could be a dope thing for him. There’s no release date for the film, but we’re excited to hear more about it.
